David Hassard has been awarded the Aviation Heritage UK Lifetime Achievement Award for his detailed chronological history of the Sopwith Company and other project activities including over 250 talks celebrating Kingston’s aviation industry.  The Association offers him their sincere congratulations for this award and it is superb to see the history properly documented. Originally circulated in 380 “100 years ago this week” historical newsletters that whole Sopwith company history, including hundreds of contemporary photographs, can now be found on the project website www.kingstonaviation.org under the heading “Sopwith Day By Day”

Kingston Aviation Centenary Project

David’s talks range from “Bat Boat to Red Arrows” summarising the 80 year history of Kingston’s aviation industry for general audiences to more specialist ones including a summary of that Sopwith Aviation story, the 1919 Atlantic Air Race and the lives and careers of Thomas Sopwith, Harry Hawker, Sydney Camm and Ralph Hooper.

If you belong to a group or club that would be interested in hosting one of David’s live or zoom talks you can reach him via “Contact Us” on the www.kingstonaviation.org website. Some of David’s talks can be viewed in the Association online video library.
